Before his final concert in the United States, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex offered their old buddy a royal shoutout.
Before he is scheduled to formally retire, it was Elton John’s final ever live concert in the country, and he really had a royal sendoff!
John played the piano for the final time in the United States on November 20 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, capping off his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour that had included 189 performances across North America. Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney, Taron Egerton, and Jude Law were just a few of the famous people that attended the concert, which also featured Dua Lipa, Brandi Carlile, and Kiki Dee as performers.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a taped appearance before the event, which was live streamed across the world on Disney+, and that is what really electrified the crowd. The pair recorded a special message of support for the Rocketman and expressed their gratitude for his friendship and years of amusement.
What did Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have to say about Elton John?
Hello, Elton! At the outset of the message, Meghan Markle remarked, “We just wanted to say congrats. “And that we are so happy that we were able to see you on your farewell tour as well as how proud and appreciative we are of you. ”
And thank you for keeping everyone entertained for so many years,” Harry said. And thank you for being the friend that you were to my mother, for being our friend, for being a friend to our kids, and for amusing people all over the world, as well as for being our friend.
Even though this is your formal retirement, we know that this won’t be your final job, continued Prince Harry. Congratulations on a fantastic career; we adore you.
Princess Diana and Elton John’s relationship
After initially meeting in 1981, Elton John and Princess Diana developed a deep connection that lasted for many years. John wrote in his biography how she made him feel safe the moment they met. He stated, “She was endowed with an exceptional social ease, an ability to make others feel completely at ease in her presence. Elton John’s AIDS Foundation and Diana’s organisations respectively helped the fast friends generate millions of dollars for AIDS research. Despite having a brief falling out in 1997, the two men patched things up after Gianni Versace, a friend of theirs, was murdered and died just six weeks before Diana was slain in a car accident.
John remained close to the royal family even after Diana passed away, especially to Harry and William, her two boys. Harry was praised by Elton John in a passage that was included in TIME’s 2018 list of the 100 Most Influential People.
At a private luncheon hosted by his mother Princess Diana for Gianni Versace and me many years ago, I first met a very bashful and gentle Prince Harry, John said. What a delight it has been to see that small kid mature and get the warmth, humour, and bravery of his mother to stand out for the issues he genuinely believes in.
We can only hope that his charming connection with the royal family will continue in the future.
