At this year’s Cannes Film Festival, the highly anticipated premiere of Indiana Jones & The Dial Of Destiny saw multiple stars cross the red carpet in designs by the most celebrated names in fashion. Alongside Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Gemma Chan, and Karlie Kloss walked Shannon K, a 21-year-old American-Indian singer, and actress known for fastly growing music career and her large following on social media.
Shannon K wore a white, voluminous gown by Ukrainian designers Blanc de Blancs & Lana Marinenko. Layers upon layers of sheer fabric breathe life into the skirt, balanced by the simple elegance of clean lines decorating each piece of cloth.
The structured bodice gives shape to the gown and is beautifully framed by two abstract sleeves that jet outward, offering a complimentary horizontal movement to the verticality of the dress.
To accompany this dress, she wore a gorgeous jeweled crown, not to outshine the gold snakes that adorned her wrists and neck. This look is truly something out of a fairytale story.
This stunning look is not purely aesthetic. In place of a more universally-known brand name, Shannon K chose a dress by Ukrainian designers to support the fight in Ukraine against the unprovoked invasion of Russia.
She wanted to show the world what beauty they offer, that even though their fight isn’t over, they stand strong and passionate in everything they do. So, with the grandiosity of her dress and jewels, she attracted the eyes and touched the hearts of every viewer.
Shannon K takes after her father, Kumar Sanu, who was a successful Bollywood playback singer. She debuted her singing career with her song “A Long Time,” back in 2018 alongside singer-songwriter Poo Bear. Today the music video has exceeded 41 million views on YouTube.
She continues to advocate against bullying in her music as well, a topic that is very close to her as she was suffered from the adverse affects of bullying while growing up.
She collaborated with Sonu Nigam, a famously known Bollywood singer, and released the love song “OMT,” in 2018. In addition, Shannon K received the Wow Outstanding Female Singer Par Excellence Award in 2021.
Shannon K is not only a singer-songwriter but also an actress and has also fashioned herself as a model as she has graced the covers of magazines. She debuted her acting career in the American film, “The Big Feed.”
She also is currently working on the TV show, “Mystical Inheritance of Adina Hassan,” a show about a college student in the worst time of her life who all of a sudden, inherits a family heirloom.
