West, who withdrew from the event less than a week before, was replaced by Cudi.
On Friday (July 22), Kid Cudi’s headline performance at Rolling Loud Miami ended abruptly after he was repeatedly struck by items thrown from the audience.
The “Day ‘N’ Nite” rapper, who filled in for Kanye West at the last minute, interrupted his late-night performance when he was smacked in the face with what seemed to be a water bottle. Cudi offered the crowd one more warning before finally leaving the stage, clearly shaken.
The rapper and actor fiercely said, “Yo, I will go, I will leave right now, if you guys throw one more f—ing item up here. “I’m not f—ing playing. Throw one more f—ing object on this stage, and I’ll go. You will f—ing ruin it for everyone, I’m not playing. I’ll f—ing go now. I’m going if I see one more f—ing thing on this f—ing stage or if I get hit with one more f—ing item. Avoid f—ing with me.
Naturally, once Cudi had done chastising the rambunctious audience, another bottle was hurled onto the stage, and the rapper followed his word and departed.
Cudi and Rolling Loud’s agents have been contacted by Billboard for comment.
West, now known as Ye, made an unexpected cameo while Lil Durk was playing on another stage at Rolling Loud at around the same time that Cudi finished his performance. The popular rapper and business entrepreneur sang “Father Stretch My Hands, Pt. 1,” a track from his 2016 album The Life of Pablo, during his short visit. Here is a video that a fan caught of Ye making a surprise visit.
Ye’s appearance was particularly unexpected considering how recently he had cancelled his headline spot at the Miami festival. Cudi, with whom he had a falling out earlier this year, took his place. Due to Cudi’s relationship with Kim Kardashian’s boyfriend, Pete Davidson, Ye decided not to include the rapper on his Donda 2 album in February. “Too bad I dont want to be on ur album u f—in dinosaur hahaha,” Cudi said in a critical remark on Ye’s Instagram photo. Cudi and Ye last worked together on 2021’s Donda. Everyone is aware that, ever since we first met, I have been the finest thing about your albums. You have my prayers, brother.
The co-founders of the event, Tariq Cherif and Matt Zingler, released the following statement in response to Ye’s cancellation from Rolling Loud: The co-founders expressed excitement over Ye headlining Rolling Loud Miami 2022. “We collaborated with him and his staff on the performance for months. Unfortunately, Ye has made the decision to stop doing performances. Although we don’t take it lightly since he is the first headliner to ever cancel on us, we wish him the best. We are excited to have Kid Cudi perform as the main attraction in Miami and we can’t wait to see what he has in store.
