Robert Downey Jr.’s wise counsel on handling stardom was revealed by Star Wars actor John Boyega at a waffle meet.

Before Star Wars: The Force Awakens catapulted him to fame, John Boyega remembers having a waffle meeting with Robert Downey Jr. to learn how to become famous without making mistakes.

Robert Downey Jr. is the only person who can truly understand what it’s like to hit rock bottom before making a huge comeback in Hollywood. The Avengers: Endgame actor, who had a history of legal issues, eventually grew up and established himself as one of the most bankable celebrities in the business. So John Boyega had waffles with RDJ before becoming famous as Finn in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

In an interview with Men’s Health, John Boyega recalled the unforgettable waffles encounter and revealed that he had asked his agency to arrange it up with Robert Downey Jr., who complied. As for the purpose of the waffles meet, John wanted to discover how to become successful without making mistakes along the way—something RDJ is all too familiar with! Over waffles, Downey gave Boyega some wise counsel about dealing with stardom. The 30-year-old actor thought, “I am extremely fascinated in folks who travel to dark regions and are able to flip that.

John Boyega recalled the 57-year-old actor saying these insightful words to him: “When you enter the field, “they won’t know what to do with you; they’ll be like, “Oh, let’s just make him well-spoken and polite.” That serves as a sort of filter. There will be some turbulence for you. You’re going to look within this to see who you are. Even though it may be difficult, you’ll emerge with a strong sense of who you are. That is exactly what occurred to me.”

In addition to working himself to the bone during John Boyega’s Star Wars tenure, the actor experienced bigotry as a result of opposition to his decision to play a stormtrooper in the film series.

It’s interesting to note that Chris Evans previously admitted he frequently sought Robert Downey Jr.’s career counsel. Given that RDJ is well aware of the drawbacks of fame and the psychological trauma it can do, the actor is renowned for lending a helping hand to his business associates whenever he can.

As for John Boyega, he has three major films coming out in 2022: Breaking, The Woman King, and They Cloned Tyrone.
