Mindy Kaling, who is 43, doesn’t give rumours much thought. The actress, writer, and mother of two has kept quiet about who the father of her 4-year-old daughter Katherine and 1-year-old son Spencer is, but that hasn’t stopped people from guessing. In a new interview with Marie Claire, the star of “The Office” talked about one of the most popular paternity theories. She told the magazine that her longtime friend and ex-boyfriend, B.J. Novak, 43, is not the father, but is still a very important person to her family.
When asked if the rumours about her ex-boyfriend-now-best friend bothered her, Mindy said, “No, it doesn’t bother me. He is a godparent to both of my children, and they get along so well with him.

She also said that the talk hasn’t hurt her family in any way, saying, “It hasn’t changed my happiness at all, and it hasn’t hurt my kids or B.J.” The person who made Never Have I Ever then joked, “If that’s what people are going to find exciting, I’ll take it.”
Mindy and B.J. dated on and off for many years, but the actress said that he’s more like a family member than a friend now. In 2019, she told Good Housekeeping, “The truth is that B.J. is now more like a family member than a friend.” About once a week, he comes over. He’ll come over sometimes just to hang out with Katherine.”
She agreed that the way things were going wasn’t typical, and she could see how people might be confused. “If I were looking at it from the outside, I would think the same thing,” Mindy said. “Novak is a real staple in my house.” She said, “When you’ve known someone for as long as I’ve known him—since the first time we met, which was like 24 years ago—you know them pretty well. We’re both almost 40 years old now. Since it’s been so long, he’s become part of my family.
